This is a privately operated reference service, not a government office. It cannot confirm custody or release, pull an official record, post bond, or change a booking entry. An authoritative answer must come from the custodian that created or holds the record.

Choose the Record Custodian

Record ownership follows the event. The detention center handles county custody, the sheriff and city police keep records created by their own officers, courts control case information, and state or federal agencies control later custody records.

The court file controls disposition. Public docket information is not an official docket, and the clerk is the starting point for court records. Shelbyville Police’s published warrant route also identifies Shelby County District Court at (502) 633-4736, the sheriff at (502) 633-4324, and Shelbyville Police at (502) 633-2326 for a question involving a city police warrant.

Kentucky DOC, KOOL

Use Kentucky Offender Online Lookup for sentenced state offenders and qualifying supervision records. KOOL is not the current Shelby County jail roster and does not list every county arrest. KDOC says entries are updated daily and warns that data newer than 120 days may not be finalized.

Federal and Immigration Custody

Federal Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator: sentenced federal BOP custody from 1982 forward, searched by name or register number. The public locator is text-based and has no public booking-photo field.

ICE Online Detainee Locator System: current ICE or qualifying CBP custody, searched by an exact A-number and country of birth, or exact name with country and date of birth. It is not a Shelby County roster and does not provide a public mugshot gallery.

For a current county booking, start with the Shelby County records hub and the detention roster. For a state sentence, use KOOL. For a federal sentence or immigration detention, use BOP or ICE. A person held locally on a federal pretrial matter may not appear in BOP, so identify the federal court or U.S. Marshals custody contact when that distinction matters.
